Leopard Has More Holes than Spots

Security has slipped backwards on the evolutionary ladder in Apple's latest Mac OS X release, security researchers say, with Leopard's firewall having more holes than its namesake cat has spots.

"The short answer is the Leopard firewall is ... ugly and a step backwards from 10.4," said Rich Mogull.

Fortress Mac Is Gone

Malware breaches the Mac moat.

"For years, we've heard snorts of derision from Mac users about the poor security of PCs. Yet that supercilious attitude (as we know from our history books) is patently dangerous, because it creates a false sense of security. Now, Mac users will need to be a bit more careful out there ('cause when Joey wants his pr0n, he wants it now!). On the heels of the poorly-secured release of Leopard, we now find that there is no perfect protection against human stupidity social engineering, even for a Mac user," said Alex Eckelberry.

After reading the above two articles, I can only agree with Alex Eckelberry, although I believe the latter part of his last sentence could very well be applied to any "Joey", on any version of any operating system.  What saith you?

And being Apple left some promised feature out of Leopard, something Jobs' & Co harshly criticized Microsoft for doing in Vista, it seems Apple is going to the dogs, with its firewall now a gaping walk-in for hackers and nasties, etc.

As for Joey, well if Joey wants to view filth, Joey will get filth...and from a variety of sources, not just via browsing on any OS.

Unoffical List of MISSING Features in Leopard

Ah, well. Maybe they'll show up in an update. (Is anyone thinking back to the release of Vista or even further to XP?

Unoffical List of MISSING Features in Leopard

Yeah, took a look and it's pretty much the same as I read on Softpedia News a while back.

However, that does not deter me from getting an iMac around mid-08 with Leopard on it, as you say, those features may yet turn up in an update.
